Man Cave Sizes and Pricing

Our man cave kits come in three standard size brackets. The compact 10m² pod (5m x 2m or 3.3m x 3m) is the most popular for hobby rooms, home bars, and guitar practice spaces — it sits under the Victorian building permit threshold for non-habitable outbuildings. The standard pod frame kit is priced on request.

The mid-range 15-20m² man cave (6m x 3m or 5m x 4m) gives enough room for a pool table, workbench, or small gym setup. These require a building permit in most Victorian councils. We handle the permit process for you.

The large 25-40m² workshop man cave (8m x 4m or 10m x 4m) suits serious workshops, car detailing bays, or multi-purpose spaces with separate zones. The steel frame kit is priced on request. At this size you can include a bathroom, kitchenette, or mezzanine storage loft.

What’s Included in a Man Cave Kit

Every man cave kit includes wall frames and roof trusses roll-formed by BRIbuild from BlueScope TRUECORE steel, structural engineering documentation, double-glazed aluminium windows, a steel personnel door and an optional roller door for workshop access. The frames are termite-proof, and the TRUECORE steel carries BlueScope’s 50-year steel warranty.

You choose your concrete slab or pier foundation (we provide the footing engineering), electrical fit-off (we provide pre-wiring channels), and any internal linings or finishes. Most man caves are left with exposed steel framing internally — it’s part of the aesthetic and saves $3,000-$5,000 on plasterboard and painting.

Popular Man Cave Uses in Melbourne

The most common man cave builds we do across Melbourne are home workshop and tool sheds for weekend projects, home gyms with rubber flooring and ventilation, music studios with acoustic insulation between the steel frame cavities, home bars and entertainment rooms with TV mounting, pool table rooms (a 7-foot table needs at least 4.5m x 5.5m of clear floor space), and gaming rooms with dedicated electrical circuits for multiple screens.

For she sheds, popular configurations include art studios with north-facing skylights, yoga and meditation spaces, sewing and craft rooms, and home office retreats separated from the main house. The steel frame construction is identical — only the fit-out changes.

Installation and Delivery

Man cave kits are delivered flat-packed from our Melbourne hub. The steel frames are carried through a standard side gate — no crane access needed. Assembly takes 1-2 days for a standard pod, or 2-3 days for larger workshop builds. Most of our Melbourne customers have their man cave standing within 14 days of design approval.
